Beef Onion Rice Casserole (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - ¾ cup butter, sliced into chunks (1½ sticks)
02 - 1 pound of lean ground beef
03 - 2 cups long grain white rice, uncooked (not instant)
04 - 2 cans (10.5 oz each) French onion soup
05 - 2 cans (10.5 oz each) beef broth or consommé
06 - ¾ cup water
07 - ½ to 1 tsp garlic salt, based on how salty you like it

# Instructions:

01 - Turn your oven to 425°F and let it preheat. Meanwhile, grab a 9x13 pan and coat it well with cooking spray.
02 - Cook the ground beef in a large skillet until it's browned and no longer pink. Sprinkle with garlic salt as it cooks, and break it apart so it’s crumbly.
03 - Toss the rice and beef together in your sprayed pan. Add the soups, broth, and water, then mix it all up until it’s blended nicely.
04 - Spread butter slices over everything, placing them evenly on top to melt during baking for ultimate flavor.
05 - Cover the dish tightly with foil and pop it in the oven for 30 minutes.
06 - Take off the foil and put it back in the oven for another 30 minutes until it's totally hot and bubbling.
07 - Once it’s out of the oven, give it a nice fluff with a fork and serve up this warm comforting dish!

# Notes:

01 - Save some cleanup! Use a cast iron skillet or Dutch oven instead—cook the beef in it first, then add everything else and bake it right in there.
