Garlic Herb Cheese Bread (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Dough Ingredients

01 - 3½-4 cups bread flour
02 - ¾ cup buttermilk at room temperature
03 - 1¼ teaspoons salt
04 - 2½ teaspoons quick yeast
05 - 3 large eggs warmed up to room temp
06 - 2 tablespoons regular sugar

→ Center Filling

07 - 2 cups cheddar, shredded
08 - 2 tablespoons thyme, chopped fresh
09 - ½ cup basil leaves, chopped finely
10 - 6 tablespoons soft salted butter
11 - 4 small garlic cloves, minced
12 - 1 tablespoon oregano, freshly chopped
13 - ¼ cup parmesan, grated

→ Top Layer

14 - 2 tablespoons melted butter
15 - ¼ teaspoon powdered garlic

# Instructions:

01 - Put buttermilk, yeast, sugar, eggs, flour, and salt in a stand mixer. Knead about 4-5 minutes using the dough hook. Toss in 2 tablespoons of butter and mix another 2-3 minutes. If dough's sticky, add a bit more flour to get it smooth.
02 - Cover the bowl with plastic, set it somewhere warm, and wait about 2 hours till it's doubled. While rising, mix the rest of the butter, garlic, herbs, and cheeses together in a little bowl.
03 - Flatten the dough into roughly a 12x18 rectangle. Smear the herb butter filling all over, then scatter cheddar on top. Roll it up into a log along the long side and seal the edge by pinching.
04 - Slice the log lengthwise but leave one end uncut. Braid the halves into a twist, then lay it on a sheet of parchment on a baking sheet.
05 - Wrap it up lightly with plastic and leave it again for 45 minutes until puffed up in a warm spot.
06 - Spread melted butter and sprinkle garlic powder all over the top. Stick it in the oven at 350°F and bake for 30-35 minutes till it's golden and cooked through.

# Notes:

01 - Tastes the best fresh and warm from the oven.
02 - Room-temperature ingredients make everything blend better.
