Steak Sandwich Herb Butter (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Herb Butter

01 - 3 garlic cloves
02 - 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh dill
03 - ½ cup butter, brought to room temperature

→ Sandwich

04 - A baguette
05 - 4 slices of Havarti cheese
06 - 1 yellow onion, sliced into thin half-moons
07 - 1 tablespoon salt, or add as needed
08 - 1 pound thin steak slices
09 - 1 tablespoon oil for cooking

# Instructions:

01 - Combine the butter with garlic and dill in a bowl until smooth. Keep it to the side.
02 - Put the steak in the freezer for a little while so it's easier to slice into thin strands.
03 - In a hot skillet with oil, toss in the steak slices, sprinkle with salt, and sear until they're lightly browned. Take them out when done.
04 - Throw the onion slices into the same pan, cooking them until they turn a nice golden shade. Remove and set aside.
05 - Split your baguette in half and smear both sides with the prepared herb butter. Pile on the steak, onions, and cheese slices.
06 - Leave the sandwich open-faced under a broiler just until the cheese melts and starts bubbling. Serve right away while it's hot.

# Notes:

01 - This tastes best when served while the bread is crisp and the cheese is melted.
02 - Chilling the steak briefly in the freezer makes slicing thinly much simpler.
